With the rasmolscript system correctly installed, clicking
on a rasmol icon (
) in
scop will cause a local copy of RasMol to be started,
displaying the molecule selected coloured as follows:
alpha helix (magenta)
beta strand (yellow)
turn residues (blue)
remaining residues, i.e. random coil (white)
parts of this PDB chain not in this domain (red-orange)
other chains in this PDB file (violet)
An example of the type of view you can get using this interface is shown in the picture here. This shows Netscape with the [[beta]]/[[alpha]] (TIM) barrels page in scop with 2 copies of RasMac running each showing the structure of a different TIM containing protein. Files and Select Viewer windows are part of rmscript (the rasmolscript helper appplication for the macintosh), showing files cached, header of selected file and viewers to select from.
Full instructions for installing the rasmol interface can be found here.
