Two Post-Doctoral Positions - Closing date: 7 June 2002 (extended to 14 June 2002) 

Applications are invited for two post-doctoral positions to work with Dr. Alexey 
Murzin on further development of the SCOP (Structural classification of Proteins) 
database. The SCOP database: scop.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/scop is a widely used resource 
for the investigation of protein structures and sequences. Both positions will be 
responsible for collaboration with other public databases on co-ordination, 
integration and distribution of sequence and structural family data, but will 
have separate roles. 

Database Design and Implementation [Ref: CPE/502/3] 
This will require skills both in database design and also in structural and
molecular biology. The successful applicant should have a strong research 
background with a Computer Science or Math related degree. You will have the 
ability to work in a team environment. 

Database Annotation and Manual Curation [Ref: CPE/502/2]
This will require a good experience in structural and molecular biology or
some related biological science. Basic computer skills would be a strong
advantage, although not essential. You will also need good team working
skills. 


Both positions are grant funded for 5 years and will be to MRC pay band 4 with a starting salary in the range of £20,320 to £24,384 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
